By now you have probably seen the new Business Page layout launched by Facebook earlier this month.  There is certainly a lot of chatter about it! Now that the new layout it here; I am actually relieved!  I think the layout is better and the Pages are easier to navigate and more functional for marketers and consumers a win-win! Here are the 5 things I ‘Like’ the most so far:

1) I Like that You Can Log In as Your Business Page. Page admins now have the ability to shift from their personal Facebook Profile to “Page Mode” and interact with other Business Pages as their Business Page. When you are logged in as your page you will no longer see your personal profile nor will you interact as your personal profile you will be interacting as your business!   This means you can “Like” other pages relevant to your business and interact with them just as you would from your personal profile! This is huge for marketers!

Two things to note: Pages cannot interact with personal profiles unless the profile’s privacy settings are wide open. And at this time, you are still required to log in to your personal Facebook page to have access to your Business Page.

Watch this video tutorial to learn how to Log in to your Business Page so you can interact on Facebook as your page.

2) I Like the New Look! The first thing you will notice is the page is layout resembles that of a personal profile.  The tabs are now on the left side under the business profile picture, and the Pages most recent photos are displayed across the top of the page (a reason to now post great photos to promote your business!).

Important to note!! For those of you with custom Facebook tabs, Static FBML is being retired on March 11th and being replaced by iFrames.

4). I Like/LOVE that your Business Page Can Function More Like a Personal Profile. This means you can interact with other Pages that you have ‘Liked’ by posting on their wall or commenting on their updates. Like personal profiles, pages now have their own news feed- or status updates from the pages that you have liked.

5) I Like the Everyone Filter. Facebook Pages now have an “Everyone” filter that displays content on your wall in order of relevance.   When logged in as you Business Page, you can view updates that displays “Top News” or “Most Recent” activity from other Pages you’ve liked.  What this means is that you can now nurture strategic relationships with other brands and organizations.
