The article idea came about when a media professional was referred to me as an interview candidate. We talked and she said my niche was “too small” for her listeners. She said her audience was very tech-savvy, had all the tools and big fancy job titles, etc., and that my advice might be too basic.
I didn’t take this personally, as I know she was trying to book people that would interest her listeners, but I was not going down without a fight. Her listeners did need to hear what I had to say, because I used to be one of her listeners!
I politely reminded her that I spent years as a corporate player and the reason I left the confines of corporate hell was because the bigger the company, the less connected they seemed to be from the basics – the foundations of online marketing that make the puzzle click. I told her they maybe “knew a lot about online marketing, but seemed to forget it all”.
Then I started typing 😉 I did get the radio interview in the end (and it was great!), and I am happy to share the article that came as a result of it! Enjoy your free dose of online marketing advice.
