Got Blog Spam? Get a CAPTCHAI
Got Blog Spam? Get a CAPTCHAI

I feel a little Sesame-Street-esque as I write this….

Today’s letter of the day is C…… What starts with C?

Today’s web marketing tip – get a CAPTCHA!

Let’s face it, the wild web women love blog comments.  If you are my friend on Facebook, you will see my “what is Lorrie doing?” comments that share my giddiness over smart blog comments.  Getting your feedback (good, bad and ugly) rocks our she-geek worlds.

But all blog fun commenting aside, I was getting some serious blog anxiety and overwhelm as my comments were getting over-run with dysfunctional posts from Viagra and Cialis spammers.   As a marketing therapist, I have to practice what I preach, so I asked for help. I went to my super-smart wild web men at SiteGoals and screamed that I couldn’t take the blog spam anymore.

With a little help from our web support crew, we learned that the key to removing blog spam was as simple as getting a healthy dose of CAPTCHA on the blog.  CAPTCHA stands for Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart.

That is why you see the new code under the comments, it protects the blog, saves us blog management “backwards work” time and keeps the wild web women sane.

The CAPTCHA keeps the blog free and clean from the evil spam crime that is lurking out on the world wide web and frees up the Wild Web Woman to continue to fight marketing crime for our clients and members.

K, back to work!
