This week I was fortunate enough to attend The Women’s Conference with the Wild Web Women and 25,000 other attendees in Long Beach, CA! Hosted by Maria Shriver, the annual forum features amazing and inspiring women including Eve Ensler, Madeleine Albright, Arianna Huffington, Katie Couric, Caroline Kennedy – and too many more to name!

The theme of this year’s sold-out event was Be Architects of Change – so it was especially appropriate that they hosted a discussion on Changing the World Through the Web featuring innovators who are using new technologies to revolutionize the ways we connect, communicate, collaborate and learn!

Check out how these visionaries are using the web for social good:

Ashton Kutcher, Twitter king and co-founder of Katalyst Media, was definitely a crowd favorite! He talked about how his company uses new technology including social media to aggregate and activate audiences around issues and values that matter to them. Mr. Demi Moore also shared his new obsession with photo sharing site Daily Booth.

Facebook’s Randi Zuckerberg talked about the launch of Peace on Facebook, a collaboration with Peace Innovation at Stanford University that helps people from different backgrounds easily connect to better understand one another in hopes of decreasing world conflict.

PayPal veteran Premal Shah now helps low-income entrepreneurs around the world with micro-loans on Kiva.org, a web site that connects people for the sake of alleviating poverty. Kiva raises about $1 million every 10 days, and in addition to changing lives around the world – Shah mentioned that Kiva has a 98% repayment rate on micro-loans!

With the internet and social media, it’s easier than ever to share ideas and make an impact. On the web, anyone with a passion can be an architect of change!
