PATRICK’S DAY, I wanted to explore the rather illusive “CONCEPT OF LUCK”…

How can we inspire and activate our potential for “good luck”… to bring forth a seemingly magical “synchronicity” of events for the betterment of our lives and our businesses? What can we learn from all of the symbolic images, mythic stories, and history that permeate our culture today? …What about that “pot of gold at the end of the rainbow”? -That’s Irish too, right? -How do we find THAT?

For a little St. Patrick’s Day history:

The day of Irish feasting and drinking in the form we currently know it, is based more historically on the last indulgences before “Lent” (a time of fasting and giving up vices before Easter for Christians - Maybe we all have some distracting vices that we could benefit from forgoing?)

As for the history of St. Patrick himself? …At 16 years old, Patrick was kidnapped in England (so he’s not actually Irish) and forced into slavery for over 6 years in Ireland. Following his successful escape (after ritual prayers and visions of the boat he’d flee on), he vowed to return to Ireland to help others by building churches, monasteries and schools -which he did. He was strong in his religious and educational beliefs; so perhaps he also happened to believe in a more industrious view of luck, like that of the 1st Century philosopher Seneca who wisely said:

“Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity.”

Delving further into the concept of luck, Psychiatrist Carl Jung coined the term “synchronicity,” which he described as “a meaningful coincidence.” Carl Jung was a unique, highly influential thinker and founder of analytical psychology, who incorporated a variety of intensive studies regarding man - through art, theology, literature, philosophy and more. As a marketing person for close to two decades, I’ve found that many of the same studies significantly apply to the field of marketing, as we are constantly building relationships while also tapping into connective imagery and words. –It’s all about people and what makes them tick! At Web Marketing Therapy, we view marketing as a practice that is much deeper than many people realize. To help our clients successfully maximize or “actualize” their businesses, we adopt a more in-depth and meaningful approach, geared to cultivating healthy/wealthy businesses.

Here’s an acronym for “LUCK” created to reflect it’s more dynamic nature:

L -Learn and actively prepare yourself

U -Use your unique talents

C -Connect with people, ideas and ideals

K -Know the opportunities and gifts surrounding you and seize them!

Take LUCK into your own hands and make it happen!

Apply L.U.C.K. and riches will appear. –Even if some of those riches are initially “the learning” you need to seize a future opportunity. Understand that silver linings always exist. –Sometimes you need to see the silver before you find the gold!

Opportunities abound… If you fail to see them, recognize them or take action, they likely won’t even appear to exist! –That’s why we learn to SEE and to CREATE good luck.

Always engage in learning… The more you know, the more you begin to see!

Allow yourself to be inspired anytime and anywhere… Whether you’re alone, reading, in a meeting, at a grocery store, or walking down the street… be prepared.

Tap into your imagination with clarity and vision… create your rainbow …and follow it’s course!
