]]> My secret trendsetter hipster weapon is my sister.  She emails, calls, and basically tracks me down to share all of the great web stuff out there in the wild wild web.  I am taking this foggy Friday morning to share MUST SEE videos that my sister passed along to me.

JDilla “U-Love” Donut video by talented graphic artist, Alan Gonzales. Alan was assigned a project to create a music translation of any song he chose, compiled of elements that best display both a qualitative and quantitative aspect of the song. For this project, he gave himself constraints of only using donuts and Typography to get the message across. This video is CREATIVE and watching it makes me crave for donuts. I spoke with Alan and he shared that he doesn’t have a sweet tooth so his roommates were pretty stoked to help him with this project.

Sophia Grace and Rosie from Essex, England singing Nicki Minaj “Super Bass”. It took Sophie Grace 2 days to memorize this song. Her parents put it on YouTube and Ellen Degeneres brought her to LA to sing on her show. And then Ellen gives her the best surprise.

]]> I’m a working mom with a 4-year-old and a husband in his final year of vet school, which means I have ZERO time to cook!  What does cooking have to do with a web marketing blog-good question!

Some people doubt the validity of using Facebook to grow your business.  Three Texas mom’s sure didn’t think much about starting a Facebook page, “Crock Pot Girls” to share recipes among friends.  That was on August 19th, just a few weeks ago.  I heard about the page through multiple friends on Facebook, as well as my mom talking about some of her Facebook friends liking the page, so I decided to check it out.  I was interested enough in the content to “LIKE” the page on August 31st-heck yeah I want to hear about great recipes that are the result of throwing a ton of stuff in a crock pot in the morning and coming home to dinner being DONE and DELICIOUS!

Jump to today (Thursday, September 1st at 9.21 pm) and their page now has 1,024,415 fans.  To put that in perspective other cooking type pages such as Top Chef  has 1,222,920 fans, Hell’s Kitchen has 1,420,383 fans, Martha Stewart only has 235,777 fans and The Rachael Ray Show only has 686,582 fans.  Those are all shows/cooking personalities that have wide reach through cookbooks and tv shows and still are hovering around those numbers after years of marketing and nation wide exposure.

Jenna and Nicole (and Allison, who decided this whole thing was too much for her and bowed out of the Crock Pot Girls) are experiencing the holy grail of marketing…VIRAL exposure.  They have a product (their recipes and a forum to share them) that hits the sweet spot of the moms today (and dad’s too, I’m assuming).  It will be fun to watch them over the next few weeks/months/years etc. and see if their viral success will lead to a viable business and a domination of the cooking world!  They quickly built a website to address all the fans, that kept crashing due to excessive traffic to their site (I can’t get it to come up today-but I looked through it on Monday and it has some recipes I’m really looking forward to trying!) and they are now considering making this their full-time career!

It’s also inspiring to think that your hobby might very well turn into a career doing something you LOVE to do…so dare to dream big, take risks, share your passions via social media – you just might be the next one to ride the waves of a viral sensation!

By the way, it’s only been 30 minutes since I started writing this post and their fans are already at 1,025,660 and rising by the minute.  Social media CAN work…and DOES!
