Thanks to one of my favorite wild web women, Amy Swift, founder of SMARTY (and one of the most wonderful entrepreneurs I am proud to partner with! I discovered the “Entrepreneurs Can Change the World” video.
And it made me all emotional, in a “there is a reason I work so hard sort of way”…
I’m no different than any other small business owner. I worry about finances, I have crappy days, I have to solve lots of problems, fix bugs and wear a lot of hats (money rainmaker, CEO, CMO, CFO, CTO and janitor)
But you know what???? There is nothing else I would rather be doing, because entrepreneurs CAN change the world.
I started Web Marketing Therapy to help passionate professionals tap the AMAZING power of healthy marketing to brand, build and boost business. I wanted to run a company that was fun, funny, helpful, healing and meaningful. I wanted to work with people I loved, make a difference, make an impact and do work that I LOVE to do. We donate 1% of our annual gross sales (not net, GROSS) to environmental non-profits because we want there to be a planet for future generations and although our company doesn’t sell oxygen, we do make a meaningful impact on the people we partner with (whether they realize it or not!)
You can be an entrepreneur whether you run your own company, work in someone else’s company, work for a corporation, non-profit, volunteer or run a household.
Passion moves mountains. Do what you like and like what you do and don’t be afraid to make a gargantuan leap in your personal and professional life.
What is your work doing to change the world?
PLEASE Retweet this blog post, share the video with people who need a professional perk-up and help more people get inspired to make meaningful marketing happen to make the work world wonderful to work in!

Lorrie,
I am a Wild Web Woman and a small business owner. By day, I work at an Hotel Interactive Agency (www.emaxhotelmarketing.com) as their SEO/SEM Specialist. It is a job I love because SEO and SEM are my passion. I can lose myself for hours while working on a website.
Two years ago, I created a challenge for myself. I wanted to put my Web Marketing Skills to the test so I created my own online business called ScrubsAndStyle.com. It is a site that sells nursing scrubs. I wanted to start a business from scratch and see if I could make it flourish. Today, I am happy to report, that my business is growing by leaps and bounds. And along that way I discovered that providing a service for the dedicated workers in the health care field is very satisfying. It is my baby.
This morning, I was going about my business, just a regular Tuesday morning – looking for ways to enhance my Web Marketing skills – when I came upon your website and I just have to thank you. It woke me up out of my routine and re-inspired me to think about “What my work (and business) is doing to change the world?” Thank you for that dose of perspective. It inspired so many new ideas, I have been writing them down all morning. Thank you for what you do. Thank you for waking me up and reminding me of the important work I am here to do. I am forever grateful!

Hi Jeanne!
Thank you for the post – it is great to have a new virtual wild web sister! I am a SEO/SEM she-geek too. I teach Search Engine Marketing courses at UCSB and UC Berkeley Extension – I love opening the eyes of students (showing them how search works, giving them geeky-cool ways to optimize their sites or build ones that are search-ready from the start!) I hear you about the \getting lost for hours working on a website\ Thank goodness it is healthy to be obsessive about web marketing, huh? Ha!
Your \baby\ scrubsandstyle.com is fantastic! When we do work we are passionate about, it really is remarkable how much we flourish.
Your post made my day. We do what we do to inspire great marketing and meeting other passionate professionals rocks my world. Thank you
Keep rocking the wild web and keep reading!
Virtual Marketing Hugs,
Lorrie
