- Uh my gawad, I love this man!!
It’s my blog so I can be open and honest about my obsessions. One of my obsessions is over a wild marketing man, Mr. Seth Godin. There is nothing that makes a web marketing therapist giddier than a sharp, brilliant, marketing-savvy pro (oh, and a man that is willing to self-promote and become a weblebrity is another wow factor for us wild web women!!)
“Wealth is not created by financial manipulation, the trading of equities or the financing of banks. They just enable it. Wealth is created by productivity. Productive communities generate more of value. Productivity comes from innovation. Innovation comes from investment and change.”
I hear a lot of people complain that web marketing or running a company is hard work and you know what I say??????
Damn right it’s hard work!!!!
It requires time, monetary investment and willingness to challenge/change current thinking to embrace the new rules of marketing and thrive in the new world we work and live in!
Nobody is entitled to wealth. Success comes from hard work and smart marketing. There is no shortcut people!! If you want to have success in business and life you have to be willing to buck up, pound the pavement and own it…and do kick-a%$ marketing. When it comes to new marketing, I believe that:
WE ARE PAID EQUALLY TO HOW MUCH WE ARE WILLING TO THINK
and
IT’S NOT ABOUT WHAT WE KNOW, BUT WHAT WE ARE OPEN TO LEARNING
You can love what you do and please embrace the “vocation is my vacation” mentality, but get over the American commercial crud that cons people into buying the shortcut of “I work two hours a day in my pajamas and make millions” dream. We gotta realize that productivity is required.
It’s about marketing smart, not hard, but smart does require effort, so shift your thinking to get that.
The old marketing rules are dying, the new ones are about being real, innovative, industrious, and web-savvy. It’s not easy, but if you are willing to learn and work at it you will win.
I believe that investing in web marketing productivity will take companies to a new level, and do agree with the Godin post that there will be a paradigm shift…when that shift hits, I want to be on Seth Godin’s boat…

Lorrie! Seth Godin is pretty amazing….duh…
Yes he rocks.
Anyway…I just wanted to thank you sooooooo ssoooooo soooooo much for all of your inspiring words and great help with the Dons Net Cafe. It has been such a privelege to have you coming in and working with us personally as our own marketing GURU! I loved the new rules of marketing and PR book! It was absolutely fantabulous! And the Dons Net Cafe is getting a blog up on our website ASAP! Maria (CEO) and I (COO) are getting together a team of bloggers to set up the blog and have daily entries to keep our buyers updated…and to hopefully snag some more. The Dons Net Cafe is going to be so much more prepared at competitions with our marketing plan because we have taken your marketing 164 class. For future classes I would suggest to have as many interactive assignments as possible. Like actually DOING things like creating their own blog and have each person submit something each day. That would be really cool. Also, have a project at the end of each or a couple chapters so students can get a hands on use from what they just read. I think this class can develop into something really great, especially since no one knows about it yet!!!! Once again, thanks so much for your marketing help and overall encouragement for each member of the Dons Net Cafe. You will always be an important contact in my phonebook and email list:) Also, if you ever want any coffee..come to me:)!! I always have some to sell. $11 for ground, $10 for beans. We also have our CINNAMON HOLIDAY COFFEE coming out asap! It’s uber (ooober) delicious.
