Google Profiles

Check this out!  If you haven’t been following David Meerman Scott (author of The New Rules of Marketing and PR) on his blog you may have missed this post yesterday on Google Profiles: check it out.  Google announced this awhile ago, and there has been some buzz about it, but now that they’re adding more features, it’s a great time to explore this tool if you haven’t already. Google allows you to create a public profile, something that you can fill with juicy links, something that can be your personal online card but not require you to have a blog (hope you do, though!) or any other affiliation.  You just need a Google account, and those are easy (and free) to get from Google. You probably already have one for your gmail account, analytics, or any of the number of Google services that we use on a daily basis.

Thanks David!

    Great tip Amber!

    I Google profiled myself!

I suggest professionals do this to boost search engine optimization on their company, personal name, etc!

So does this mean that I change my name on everything to Susan Good Levine or just have it as an alternative? In the profile, would it be:
    Last name: Good Levine
    First name: Susan
    ???????????

    Thank YOU David! :-)

Sue, how do you want people to find you? What do you normally use? So, for instance, would most people who know of you know Sue Levine, and type in that? The nice thing here is that you do have “Susan Levine” in there with or without “Good,” so you’ll get those keywords either way, but it’s a good idea to consider moving forward. How do you, or how would you like to, brand yourself?

Without knowing more, it sounds like you might want to have it in your profile, just as you mentioned above.
