There are a lot of rules to social media marketing, and most of them are unwritten.
The problem with unwritten rules is that a lot of people who mean well are doing all the things they shouldn’t be doing, and then wondering why they have no followers on Twitter, why no one likes their Facebook fan page, and most importantly, why sales haven’t gone up at all after 6 months of hard core social media work.
On our other blog called Wild Web Women (yes, we have multiple personality disorder sometimes and fall 100% into our Wild Web Womanness!) we recently did a blog that broke down some of the most important Do’s and Don’ts of social media marketing, touching on basic no brainers like, “No Spamming!” to don’ts that may be harder to adjust to, like no blatant selling.
Social media marketing is unlike other forms of marketing because there is direct contact between businesses and their audience. This leads to some great Do’s like educating instead of selling and being real and authentic. Overall, there are some great Do’s and Don’ts everyone should be aware of!

Very helpful!!! I started to get a little disappointed that my social efforts have not yielded lightning speed results. I guess I got a little disillusioned by the speed at which the social media moves.
Thanks,
