The weeks leading up to April 15th are the most dreaded time of the year for me. And I’m pretty sure I’m not alone on this. Are you with me? On top of running our businesses, we have the added pressure of filing and paying our taxes. And for those of us who aren’t expecting a refund this year or are simply too busy to find time for the dreaded deed, it may seem temping to skip it altogether. But deep down I know that ignoring my taxes is the worst thing I could possibly do – because they won’t just go away… they’ll get worse. You’ve probably seen the headlines too – small businesses are the largest source of uncollected taxes and are therefore at the greatest risk of IRS audits.

I joked with Lorrie last week that in this current economy, I feel very lucky to even have income to file! But that still doesn’t make me dread doing my taxes any less.
