I personally don’t mind it when people tweet about what they’re eating for lunch. I think food it just one of those common things in life that we can all relate to and any discussion about the best burrito or pizza place in town really has the potential to bring people together and build community in my book.
Plus, discussing what you’re doing at any given moment is a great way of offering a real personable way to connect with others in your Tweets (whether it’s what you eat or not). However, a web marketing best practice to keep in mind is always considering the objective of why you are on Twitter in the first place (to boost your biz? position yourself as a resource?) as you tweet – so you can continue to offer value to your Twitter subscribers.
Twitter is great for making connections that resonate. And relevant tweets can really help build relationships as well as your credibility.
But Twitter responsibly.
As the video below illustrates – there are consequences to having a stream of tweets that no one wants to read. If this sounds like you, consider this a web marketing intervention and start offering more value to your followers before you get busted by the Twitter Police!
Thanks to Mashable for bringing this great video parody to our attention!

I know for me, it’s hard to balance everything out. My time is so limited as to how much I can spend on Twitter that I want to make everything count…but it can’t all be about news, blog posts, etc…there has to be that personal side and relationship building. Not only does it help brand you but it’s fun to get to know people!
Thanks for a great post!
