I am normally not a fan of focus groups because they tend to cost a lot of money and there is a HUGE difference between what people SAY vs what they DO, however, I was an observer at a focus group in Atlanta, GA and one of the participants said something that made the expensive project pay off for my client:
ALL I WANT TO SEE IS WHAT’S IN IT FOR ME
There you have it, your healthy dose of web marketing for the day. Does your marketing talk about you or does it show your prospective and current customers what’s in it for them?
(Uh, this is where you stop reading and go to your website to check and see…I’ll wait)
Look critically at this and if it’s all about you, then get over yourself and speak to the people you are trying to sell!
