Happy Thanksgiving! The Web Marketing Therapy team is so grateful for our wonderful clients, students, website fans, each other (yes, we love working as a wild virtual marketing team!) AND the wonnnnnnderful web marketing tools that we could not do our jobs without!
To continue our dedication to being your virtual marketing system, the team shared our favorite web marketing support tools that we are thankful for. Be sure to check out and embrace what the experts use to help you help your web marketing! Enjoy!
Top Web Marketing Support Tools Web Marketing Therapy Practitioners Are Thankful For:
Lorrie Thomas, MA, The Marketing Therapist
I am thankful for the Web Marketing Therapy blog. Being able to purge my web marketing advice (and rants) has saved me from marketing mental institution admission. More importantly, I learn so much from my team mates who post super-healthy advice which keeps me on my toes AND I love that I can go to the blog and search topics when I am looking for tips, tools or old posts that I can share to help clients, students and WMT fans
Nicki Gauthier, Data Diva
I am thankful for Jing (made by TechSmith) http://www.jingproject.com/. This is a helpful (FREE software) tool that captures screen images and makes them image files (.jpeg, png., etc.) It also has great features such as: text box additions, arrows, call-out boxes, and instant sharing tools – for example, you can create a link for your image or copy and paste your image. This tool is for anyone that is a strong believer in the “Show me, Don’t tell me” theory. It is useful, for me, when I find new traffic sources or new keywords opportunities in Google Analytics and I want to call them out for a team member to see when we are working virtually on a project
It is a great communication tool and time-saver because we spend less time trying to interpret notes and more time finding solutions and building strategies!
Kelly Kohen, Web Marketing Counselor
I am thankful for GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar! Being a national, virtual team means that we can’t just run down the hall and pop in on our fellow Wild Web Women and it typically means that we are meeting with our fave clients over the phone. Being able to share our computer screen and all work from the same perspective means productive meetings and a greener way to work (We are 1% for the Planet members, gotta walk the talk!)!
Being a self-professed Google Gal, I must also include Google’s easy meeting options! For impromptu communications, you simply can’t beat Gmail! It’s an awesome 4-in-one tool! Instant messaging, voice chat, video chat and texting! With a click of a button, I can call quickly from my computer-no phone needed using Voice Chat! If I’m feeling brave, I might even opt for Google’s video chat… as long as no one cares that I’m working in my pajamas! To send a quick text to Lorrie, I use the SMS option and the instant messaging allows our team to “pass notes” back and forth seamlessly!
Kaili Hawley, MA, Marketing Maven
The tool that I am most thankful for is Hubspot, LOVE them. Within just the past week I have run two website grader reports on new clients while we were on the phone with them. I love the instant insight it gives me into a website. The website grader report is a GREAT jumping off point in deciding next steps need to be taken and how to improve the overall site. Also Hupspot offers most of their tools for free and they don’t bombard me with emails and offers, which when you already get a ton of email everyday, is a very nice thing.
Nathaniel Hansen, International Marketing Man of Mystery
Trackur for watching and monitoring client reputation online across web/sm properties. Compete for watching client in relation to their competition. And would absolutely looooovve to get my hands on Brickfish’s Viral Tracking tool and also Maggie Fox’s scanning tool she uses when launching a client.
Sarah Caminker, Virtual Vixen
I am thankful for the Wild Web Women Linkedin Group. Having a virtual community to connect, communicate and collaborate with link-minded women who work the social web is not only refreshing, but it’s empowering! These women practice what they preach and empower, educate and inspire us all! They embody the true meaning of social media….AUTHENTICITY!
Amy Dunn, Web 2.0 Fear Specialist
I am thankful for CoTweet- because it makes managing multiple Twitter accounts with multiple co-workers so efficient and easy to do. CoTweet has allowed me to stay on top of all of my Twitter conversations and find great new people to follow and interact with.
I am also thankful that Twitter has implemented lists into their site. This tool again has helped me find influential people in specific industries and allows me to organize my contacts for more effective and meaningful communication with Tweeple that matter. Bye Bye Twitter Spam!
Anne Orfila, Psycho-Web-Analyst
Everyday I look forward to receiving a few emails from Google that look unassuming but constantly surprise me! These emails are from Google, called “Google Alerts“, and they keep me posted on the latest search results for keywords that I am specifically interested in. I set up “Google Alerts” for all of my clients, for some of their competition (and even for myself!), so I can keep current on what is being circulated about a certain business or a product or a person. This Thanksgiving, I am grateful for my family, my friends and for my Google Alerts!
Amber Wallace, Web Development Counselor
I am thankful for Google Analytics, an awesome analytics program that does so much more than collect stats, and it’s free! I am especially grateful for goal tracking, which allows me to set up specific tasks I want users to complete (whether it’s to sign up for an email newsletter or purchase a product) and then track my conversion rates. This shows me if my website user interface is effective and how I can best structure a web marketing campaign to be results-oriented. I love the funnel visualization where I can see the pages and my final numbers on one pretty page!
Kate McMillan, Web Design Wonkette
I am thankful for the FireFox browser. I simply don’t know how my life would go on without its easy, customizable interface, tabbed browsing, killer plugins, and reliability. A web designer’s life is filled with websites, and FireFox makes it easy for me to work with my inspiration, active projects, email, schedule, FTP client, and searching for an answer without wanting to pull my hair out.
Emilia Doerr, Client Treatment Specialist
I am thankful for all the social web has to offer and so I’m especially grateful for my healthy addiction to Mashable.com. Whether it’s a how-to on using Twitter’s new ReTweet function or an article on how Google Wave will change the web, Mashable keeps me up-to-date on all the latest news and innovations in social media. And as the go-to resource for all things Web 2.0, they make it easy to share their social media tips and tools with coworkers, clients, students and WMT fans. Thanks to Pete Cashmore and the dedicated team at Mashable for their invaluable service in delivering the latest trends in social media and the ever-changing web!
Wei Wang, Wild Web Chiquita
I love BrightTalk! (Can we say we’re surprised given that I manage our online tutorials? HA!) It’s an easy-to-use, totally “do-it-yourself” FREE online service tool to allow organizations to reach out to a wide range of audiences through educational tutorials. BrightTalk gives you the liberty of uploading Power Point presentations online (which takes only 2 minutes) and you can promote your tutorial on BrightTalk or through your own website. BrightTalk’s simple user template lets organizations like Web Marketing Therapy share our marketing expertise with our fans at no cost! Talk about a great way to distribute information, build a community, and foster trust with your audience!
Pamela Sherman, Relationship Expert
Aside from appreciating almost everything Google: Alerts, Gmail, Analytics, etc. (couldn’t live without them!), I continue to be amazed and thankful for ProfNet, the service by PR Newswire that connects you directly to journalists. It’s good for seeking press opportunities for clients, while also keeping you tapped into the “buzz of interest” occuring out there. It helps smaller companies compete with much larger companies, while giving future readers the benefit of our clients’ expertise and great stories! Profnet is an excellent tool provided at a relatively very low membership cost –while also helping to revolutionize the industry!
Wil Thomas, Our Honorary Wild Web Wo-MAN, is thankful for his out of office reply. He is in canyons in Utah taking a nice vacation
Happy Thanksgiving! We love helping you!
