What else has Twitter done for you lately?

Ah Twitter, the little internet darling of the swine flu era — we write about it all the time here on the blog, but what else can it do for you?

Here are some ideas:

  1. Real-time Search.  Search may be one of the most valuable tools Twitter has to offer.  It can give you up-to-the-second info about any meme out there.  Not only #swineflu, but products, services, weather, people, tv shows — you name it!
  2. Monitor Your Passions.  If you care about something, Twitter is a great way to keep track of it.  Just about everyone and everything has a Twitter account these days, so if you’re interested in something, download a Twitter desktop client that lets you save a search as a feed you can check in on regularly. (TweetDeck or Seesmic Desktop)
  3. Productivity Tool?  Twitter lets you add a new event to Google Calendar, a new to-do to Remember the Milk, or a new note to Evernote
  4. Get Answers.  There are innumerable experts at your disposal 24 hours a day & some of them are even famous, so ask away!
