Web Marketing, Twitter Style

Social media marketing is increasingly popular and part of what we teach here at WMT.  So of course I was happy when a friend forwarded me an email about Evernote’s giveaway of Eye-Fi cards.  What is Evernote, you may be asking?  It’s a service/software that allows you to capture information and sync it across devices.  Think of it as your Mobile Me account on steroids, or if your Microsoft Exchange mailbox could track everything, but better… including photos, tasks, notes, and web pages.  You can use multiple devices and platforms to gather and share info.

What caught my attention though was their giveaway conducted using Twitter.  Users entered simply by tweeting.  Of course it’s a little more involved – users had to include “#evernote_eyefi” and have to follow Evernote, who will announce the winner via tweet.  It’s inexpensive, easy to setup and easy for users, and uses social networks.  Anyone interested is automatically tweeting this out to friends, resulting in free advertising to what is likely their target market.  Now granted, the content isn’t controlled, and this wouldn’t be a good fit for all business models, but it’s an interesting model in our social media marketing world!

How can you make something like this work for you?
