Ok people. Despite my praise and love for Twitter, I still have folks ask me why I am such an advocate and how they can get more out of this super, mega-popular & powerful social media channel? Here are some nifty tricks that I use that you ought to check out for yourself to enhance your Twitterawesomeness.
Search Twitter-This is my favorite trick. One of my early concerns about Twitter is the randomness of finding people. Do we just follow anyone? I was not liking this so much, and I discovered Twitter Feed- a tool where you can type in a key word to find conversation about whatever it is you want to follow. For instance, I want to chat about the fashions at The Golden Globes. I go to Twitter Feed, type in Goldon Globes and BAM- all the conversations about the Golden Globes on Twitter are at my finger tips. I can reply to the Tweets, follow the Tweeters- whatever my heart desires. Search Twitter is a must.
Twitter Feed- Have you ever noticed that most of the really good Twitter users always seem to update their profile immediately whenever they have a new blog post? Ever wonder how they have time to do that? Check out Twitter Feed. Setting it up can be a little tricky- but follow all of the directions to feed your blog’s RSS feed into Twitter to drive more traffic to your blog!
Twitter Grader- If you are like me, you might be wondering how you compare on Twitter. My friends at Hubspot have created a wonderful tool to show you how your profile ranks in Twitter on a score from 0-100 and where you rank overall among Twitter’s millions of users. See “All Hail the (New) Twitter Elite List“. By the way- my grade was a 94.
Mr. Tweet - Mr. Tweet helps you build important connections on Twitter by studying your tweets and your network, then making recommendations. Think of Mr. Tweet as your personal Twitter advisor- And listen to him. Mr. Tweet’s clever motto is- “We do the mundane work so YOU can focus on being productive, networked, smart and awesome.” How great is that?
TweetDeck-Twitter kind of overwhelming to you? Try TweetDeck. This is an Adobe Air desktop that aims to take the massive amounts of Twitterfeeds coming to you and breaking them down into more manageable bite sized pieces, or into specific topics or groups. Staying on top of relevant information becomes more manageable and time efficient. You can also post your updates in TweetDeck.
Twitter Widgets-This is a way to broadcast your Tweets to readers of your blog, Facebook, My Space, etc. You can create a Twitter badge to be placed into your page that posts the most up to date Tweets from your account.
TwitPic-Ever wished you could post photos in Twitter? TwitPic is a fun way to share those images. It is very easy (I did one myself this morning- check me out- ). You can post pictures to TwitPic from your phone, our API, or through the site itself.
Enjoy your new Twitter Tricks! Let me know how it works out for you (or if you have other must try tools).

Instead of TweetDeck, I use Twhirl to manage multiple accounts. It has integrated with Twitter Search and Twitpic. You can also shorten URLs. I previously wrote about it here: http://prmeetsmarketing.wordpress.com/2008/11/06/additional-twitter-tricks-twhirl/.
And thanks for the tips about Twitter Feed - that will help a lot!

Hey nice work digging up these tools, I found you through Mike Volpe at HubSpot. Also a fan of theirs. I’ll check back with your blog for more “goodies” later…
