For all you Twitter lovers and organizational geeks, Twitter just answered your prayers! On Wednesday night, Twitter announced on their blog that they will be launching Lists, a new feature that allows users to categorize their followers into groups.

Nick Kallen (@nk), the project lead on Lists, said, “The idea is to allow people to curate lists of Twitter accounts. For example, you could create a list of the funniest Twitter accounts of all time, athletes, local businesses, friends, or any compilation that makes sense.”

While Lists can be made private, they’re public by default, allowing users to subscribe to any of your lists that they’re interested in. “This means lists have the potential to be an important new discovery mechanism for great tweets and accounts,” said Kallen.

For now, Twitter is only testing it with a small subset of users, but after a little more tweaking it will launch for all tweeples in twitterverse!

In addition to Twitter announcing this fantastic new feature, Google recently released its own comprehensive social networking tool, Google Wave. What’s coming next??

I would love that! It would probably save a lot of time too. :) I’m sure we’re going to be like the Jetsons in no time.

    Hi Owen (aka Ohdoctah),
I’m a huge organizational she-geek, so I’m waiting on egg shells for Twitter Lists to launch. I do like Tweetdeck’s columns, but prefer HootSuite and haven’t noticed my computer getting slower. Love your feedback!
