As part of her List of Favorite Social Media Sites, Amy mentioned SQUIDOO - a popular a network of web pages (called “lenses”) that users can build on any and every topic under the sun! The site’s creator Seth Godin encourages lensmasters to donate their royalties to charities, including the Acumen Fund. In October 2008, Squidoo donated $80,000 to charity. This is another reason why we love Seth Godin!
So the idea behind Squidoo is that anyone can create a lens about anything that they are passionate about. This means you can build a lens too!
And the reason it’s one of our web marketing obsessions is because you can leverage Squidoo to enhance your marketing strategy! By creating lenses that focus on a specific aspect of your product or service and serving up quality content that is relevant and informative (being entertaining doesn’t hurt either!), your lens can rank for that specific topic and link back to your web site.
This offers great value for linkbuilding, driving visitor traffic, and PR. It also helps give your web site a boost in organic search as your lens will show up in searches (on the Squidoo engine as well as major search engines) for key terms. Search engines like Google seem to favor certain websites - and Squidoo is definitely one of them. And by strategically creating our own lens, you too can benefit from Squidoo’s SEO authority!

Squidoo lets you include 40 keyword tags with each lens! So make sure you use as many relevant tags in all variations (think long-tail phrases too). Also, make sure your titles, subtitles and copy is keyword rich.
Create Multuple URLs
Break your lens up into multiple modules, or sections. This enhances usability by offering readers a logical progression to your content. Additionally, each module gets a separate URL, which can be indexed by engines to return yet another search result!

As Amy mentioned in her post, you can also expand on your content by adding modules that connect with other social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter and Flickr. You can also provide additional value to users by promoting even more interactions - For example, link to your favorite books or products via Amazon!
