Act Always in a Way to do Good
Okay, so I found my marketing advice from a fortune cookie (no joke) but the wisdom was worthy of sharing and inspired me to create a new category (Good Marketing Fortune) to the WMT Blog.
Marketing of ALL forms (traditional, web, social media, etc) needs to have good intentions. Marketing to make a fast buck is not going to win friends and influence people in a healthy, sustainable way.
Marketing Rx can come in many forms, and it is often the simple words of wisdom that can inspire us and get us to make our marketing matter.
When you Act Always in a Way to do Good with respect to your marketing, then you release the mental ties that stress you out, make you worry if you should Tweet 5 or ten times a day, send three newsletters out a month, add flash to your website, hire an SEO company or redesign your site.
STOP THE QUANTITY MENTALITY
Start the Quality Mentality!!
Does your marketing act in a way to do good? Is your website updated with information that will help your website visitors? Is your marketing collateral (brochures, PDFs, Power Points) supporting your internal salespeople so they can clearly share the power of what your organization does? Does your social media work (blogs, Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin) share valuable content, resources and tips?
When I focus on service over selling, I feel better, I work better and I prioritize better. The clients our agency serves have the same experience.
May you have good marketing fortune young grasshoppers. Follow me on Twitter @webtherapist, subscribe to our Healthy Marketing Blog RSS feed, join Web Marketing Therapy on Facebook and let your conscience be your guide!
