Being The Marketing Therapist means that I am in the relationship business. Web marketing happens to be my medium, but at the end of the day, it’s not about the tools, it’s how we CONNECT with people that pays our bills.
Sarah Caminker, Web Marketing Therapy’s Virtual Vixen, had me in marketing awe (awe-ha!) last week when she said that “instead of B2B or B2C, we have to start thinking P2P (People to People)”
(I know, OMG, is that profound or what??) Those of you not getting it yet, keep reading, I want to convert you…
New media = new rules of marketing and it’s all about how we make relationships with people…forget products and services…THINK PEOPLE!
When you invest time in creating web marketing collateral, you want to give people CHOICES (P2P marketing is all about putting power in people’s hands!) so they decide (it’s about them, not you!) how they want connect with you (on their terms). Thinking P2P web marketing takes the focus off you, your company, your product, your services, your bosses ego, etc., and puts the energy where it needs to go…on the people.
I am not even close to being off my P2P soapbox, so sign up to be on our RSS feed to get more wild web freebie updates and learn more P2P tips. In the meantime, remember that professionals connect, communicate, collaborate with web marketing. Healthy web marketing serves as a stellar piece of COLLATERAL that can help brand, build and boost business.
People need people…products and services connect us and web marketing (done right) can help connect you through RELATIONSHIPS to help people know you, like you, trust you and buy from you.
Who’s with me?

Hi Lorrie,
Let’s start a P2P movement!!! I’m on-board! I think all of life is about relationships! Whether it’s how we relate to ourselves or to others, the quality of our connections are incredibly important. Instead of going through the motions of networking, we just need to reach out to each other and learn about what’s below the surface. What do we each need to have life be the best it can be? How can we serve others with our strengths?
Thanks for bringing this up, Lorrie.

WOO! I love the P2P movement idea! Great point about relating to ourselves Linda, so true!
I need more gummy bears to live life to the best and I am nothing without the power of people!!
Thanks for the post Linda! I am still working on the human being vs human “doing” balance

What kind of gummy bears do you need, Lorrie? That’s an easy one to fix! (You already have the power of a lot of people.) Let me know if there’s anything I can do to help you with the human being vs human doing balancing act. If you spend some time and focus on how you relate to yourself, it might be easier to make the transition to “be” a bit more and “do” a bit less!
Take good care,
Linda

Actually it makes sense in another way, too. Lots of individuals fear the commitment part…but they are likely to “get” the share (generosity) concept. Might help others join the social media world.

Love this… I also responded with an equal “aha” and “YES, sooo true” when I heard Sarah say this at the AdTech conference in NYC. “P2P” is a GREAT and SIMPLE way to explain the needed shift in real marketing and business consciousness.

Hi!
I think that P2P is the future, it will take buzzmarketing to a new level! Not only online but also in the real world. I saw your presentation and thought that cyberlove is something valuable, why? Well as you said; The most important customers are the current. I agree with this but not really because I think that the most valuable customers is the one that advocate the brand. Still, a good question is if the most loyal customers are profitable? I also think that the most important customers are the consumers out in the real world that has not been discovered yet. You should always find new ways to explore and create a need that will attract as many as possible for your target market. So, P2P is the future of online relationship!

Hi Mathias!
Thanks for the post - so glad you attended one of our presentations! Which one was it?
It really is all all about cyberlove. I am in ‘web marketing’ but our work teaches professionals how to make meaningful relationships, as that is what makes marketing matter!
Ohh, good question - ARE loyal customers profitable? I think some are and some serve more as “raving evangelists” - which is darn good free marketing too!!
Taking care of current customers is money but so is building new relationships.
Awesome insight - keep posting!

Hi!
I planed to attend when Lorrie visited SBCC but I missed it, I watch it on my TV actually! Yes, relationship is what makes marketing matter and as you mentioned “raving evangelists” is really good free marketing tool. The thing with the web is that every news, bad or good can spread over the internet sooo fast! So have to be careful and create meaningful cyberlove. If you can combine the taking care part with building new working relationship, then you’r on the right way!
Thank you for your answer, I really love marketing and I’m planing to start a marketing company in Sweden with my friend. Our goal will be to help small/mid-size companies get their name out, teach them about the web and how to act in different situations! Take care and Best Regards: Mathias!

Great to have you as a cyber-friend - stay in touch!!

[...] I often meet clients who put limitations on themselves and their success with preconceived notions. Marketing activities (off and on-line) that expand upon VALUE/VALUES have the best success rates. –And you don’t need to have a large budget! Strategy and new communication tools can go a loooooong way! Remember, you are in business to serve people –It’s all about P2P (People to People). [...]
