These days, like most I get a majority of my news from my social networks (Twitter & FaceBook) and friends. I still turn on the news (I’d watch Anderson Cooper anytime) and I pretty regularly watch the local news as I go to sleep.
But in general I turn to my social networks for news that is more accessible and in a format that I can digest in the time frame that I need.
The other day I was on Facebook, (how unusual) and a post from Mashable showed up in my news feed about Idaho and I was instantly drawn to the post. I was born in Boise, ID and lived there for a majority of my childhood, so I have a little soft spot for my home state.
The headline read “Idaho: The Unlikely Spam Capital” I had to read the blog post. It turns out that 98.3% of all email that is sent to Idaho is spam, which is interesting because, according to the article in just one year Idaho has jumped 43 spots to take its place as number one in spam.
As a girl from Idaho I’m not sure what spammers are drawn to in Idaho, yes we have great spuds, snow, and old ghost mine towns, but a love email spam no.
As long as email is being used spam will be around, hoping next year Idaho will drop back to the 44th or lower sate in receiving the most spam.

Wow, Kaili! Watching local news — or any news — as you fall asleep is a perfect recipe for nighmares!! How about listening to some soft, relaxing music instead? For good sleep, it helps if your mind is in a restful mode as you drift off to have sweet dreams. Just my two cents worth.
I don’t know much about Idaho being the spam capital, but I have read and studied a lot about good sleep hygiene. Give change a try!

Thanks Linda!
I know the news is not the best to fall asleep to. I will for sure try out your suggestions, they sound a ton better than the news!!
Cheers,
Kaili

You’re welcome, Kaili. Actually, our conversation has reminded me that there are many, many people who struggle with sleep on a nightly basis. I talked with Nicki Gauthier this morning, and she thought it would be helpful to write a blog entry on sleep issues for readers of my blog: http://www.counselinginsb.blogspot.com/ There are specific things that people can do to greatly improve their night’s sleep, and I will gladly share that information on my blog. If you have problems sleeping, it’s very difficult to have the energy to face the demands of our busy lifestyles. Stress and burn-out can be the consequences of a cumulative lack of sleep over time.
Enjoy the music as you relax and ease into sleep.
Take good care,
