I was really excited when Google came up with themes that you can add to your iGoogle home page.
Customization is fun and fun makes me smile
Personally, I like to change mine up every couple of months. I usually base my changes on the season, right now I have butterflies all over my page for summer.
The best theme that I’ve had so far was for Thanksgiving, which was a family of raccoons that did different things depending on the time of day. For example, at dinner time they would BBQ and then at night they would sleep in little sleeping bags while their mom read them a goodnight story.
While this is silly, the customization part is fun and every time I go back to my home page it just makes me smile. When you work all day, it’s nice to have something that makes you smile or laugh even if its just for a second.
Remember the power of “fun” when you are thinking web marketing execution!
Google is a company that understands you can’t be 100% serious all the time – we need (and deserve!) time to be silly! It is amazing what creative sparks can come from just letting loose and having fun.
Google has has taken iGoogle to the next phase and has created iGoogle Showcase – where you can find gadgets and themes to add to your own Google home page that have been”created by world-renowned celebrities and thought leaders.” One of our marketing man crushes, Seth Godin has created an iGoogle Showcase where you can add the gadgets he has on his home page to yours.
Go explore and and create your on customized iGoogle home page and give yourself something extra to smile at during the day.
