I admit it–I have neglected my LinkedIn profile for the past few weeks.
Ever since I created the account, I haven’t received many network invitations or recommendations. It felt like I wasn’t really “linked” into anyone. Since my LinkedIn activity was low on my radar, I started to lose interest in the site. However, lately I’ve been hearing more hype about the functionality of LinkedIn and how many people have gotten jobs through the networks on the site.
Being one of the thousands of college graduates from UCSB, I began to tweak my profile more in order to stand out to potential networking professionals–after all, if someone got hired through being active on LinkedIn, there is definitely value to the site that I had not successfully tapped into.
One of the most valuable ways to make your company or personal website/blog more visible and search engine friendly is to customize your website/blog name on your LinkedIn profile. By clicking on “Edit” under your “Websites” category, you will find the option to scroll down on a drop screen next to “Websites”, which will allow you to write your own tagline. Simply click on “Other” in the drop screen and a box will pop up where you can write any snazzy tagline you want!
This is a great way for you to gain control over your own profile. In a few simple steps, you can increase your search engine capabilities through utilizing select key words of your liking! Have fun and get Linked In!
