One of my fellow Wild Web Women asked me what my favorite project management tool is or if we have a specific online application that we as a team, like to use.  It’s a GREAT question-and one that we have researched every time we hear about the next “best thing” out there!  I have played with multiple online options, but always seem to come back to google apps!  Google is constantly improving its applications and growing their suite of options, so if they don’t have it now, there’s a great chance you will see it very soon!   I thought I should share my answer with all my wild web friends and would LOVE to hear what you find to be the best project management tools!

As I mentioned, we HEART Google.  Because we use them for everything for most day-to-day tasks, such as email and scheduling, it was a simple step to integrate a lot of their other apps into my work life!  I’m familiar with the look and feel of all google apps, so I don’t have to learn a new system and I don’t have to open up a whole bunch of different applications or tabs to get my job done!  Who doesn’t love to simplify life wherever you can (as long as it works well, of course!!!)

Web Marketing Therapy is a virtual team, with team members on the west coast, midwest, east coast and even London, not to mention one team member that travels all over the world (I can barely keep up with where he is on daily basis), so we email A LOT! Gmail Tasks is my favorite way to keep track of all of the billion of things I need to get done in a day!  Did you know that you can add tasks to a “to do” list with a simple click in your email?  What better way to organize all the action items then add them to their own list, organized by client.  With a few clicks, I can add an item to the appropriate list, select a due date and make simple notes on the task.  From there, it is added to my calendar on the appropriate due date, it automatically links to the related email with a single click (no more searching through my inbox for the right email) AND I can email my to do list to anyone that may need to know what’s going on (like The Marketing Therapist-who likes to know what’s going on with EVERY client!)  I can also attach the corresponding documents to the task through Google Calendar (this is much overdue addition to the Google calendar app!)

Check out the Gmail Tasks how-to video to see how easy it is!

Think you have a system that works great to keep track of all the things YOU need to get done?  Let us know your secret weapon of organization!
