Do you remember the movie Win a Date with Tad Hamilton? It was a cute movie but not Oscar winning. According to Google Zeitgeist, a lot of people remember this movie and are searching for it, today it was number five in Hot Trends. Why? I have no clue, but what’s intriguing about this is that this information is available and free though Google Zeitgeist, which updates on a regular basis throughout the day.
Zeitegeist is another wonderful tool from Google that tracks the trends from the millions of search queries that they receive each day. There are four different areas to look at:
1. Google Trends – For a broad look at search query data; enter up to five search terms to see relative popularity over time.
2. Trends for Websites – Google Trends for website traffic data. Type in a website address to see visitors by region and related sites visited.
3. Insights for Search - A deeper dive into search query data for marketers and power users. Create your own lists of “most popular” and “fastest rising” queries for different geographic regions over time and by topic.
4. Hot Trends – The top 100 fastest-rising search queries right now (U.S. only). Updates throughout the day. (Source: http://www.google.com/intl/en/press/zeitgeist/index.html)
I could spend hours looking at all the data, it’s interesting to see what people are looking at and very surprising at times, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, really? Go have fun explore and dig around Google Zeitegeist; it makes great water cooler conversation at the least.
