Web Marketing Trust Issues – Save your Blog Template

I think therapists are supposed to tell you to focus on trusting, but I won’t be telling you that today.

This week, one of our client’s new hires killed her almost year old blogspot blog (yes, poof, gone, no more, devastating) After the dramatic calls, troubleshooting, confusion, denial, depression, anger, and finally acceptance that the blog was never coming back, we developed some serious trust issues.

So, in the spirit of FAILING FORWARD, we learned that you need to always have a copy of the template for the blog! It would have saved a lot of trouble had that been standard operating procedure – we are making all our blog babes back up their templates now. For anyone on a blogspot blog, we strongly suggest you become overprotective and control-freaky about your blog design template and take these steps:

-Go into the blog template
-Click on “Expand Widget Templates”
-Copy all code
-Paste into NOTEPAD (word will format it funny, so whenever you are pasting code, always use the notepad)
-SAVE

It’s that simple…and if you ever have blog help (or lack thereof) and you accidentally kill your blog, you can pull the code and paste it back in to revive the design template!

If you are really control-freaky and have trust issues, you can back up your content in word docs too!

So, for all of your accounts, please take the 5 minutes or less to save the hassle of a redesign!
