Happy Monday!

My super galpal, Samantha Keeping, sent me this GREAT motivational message that I had to share.  This is a great kick-in-the-pants reminder that a little attitude makes a BIG difference.  This goes for our personal and our professional lives.  Run your business and make meaningful marketing –sans garbage!

Be sure to share this post to get the word out!  Note: I do not know the source (nor can I take credit for the content below), but if the source steps up or someone send me the originator’s info, I will mail you one of WMT’s awesome Thinking Caps!

My Law of the Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.

We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.

My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.

So I asked, ‘Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us
to the hospital!’

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, ‘The Law of the Garbage Truck.’

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment.

As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they’ll dump it on you. Don’t take it personally.

Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don’t take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.
Life’s too short to wake up in the morning with regrets,

so .. Love the people who treat you right.

Pray for the ones who don’t.

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Have a blessed, garbage-free day!

LOVE THIS! Thanks for sharing this great morsel of wisdom, so TRUE. —What a great analogy! …Deflect the “garbage” nicely, live and progress on as “garbage free” as possible. –Be sure that your “CANs” are filled with “Can-Do’s” and NOT “doo-doos”! (Ha! Just had to milk it.)

Lorrie, this concept is brilliantly illustrated. How I’d explained it to my son in the past would be that the driver of the black car put a present on a silver plater, a present called “innocent victim” you could take that present and be righteously angry and not at fault and get some sympathy when you told your tale of woe.
Or you could smile and push the gift of “innocent victimhood” back. Smile and say “I’m just fine.” And go about your business, not thinking or giving any energy to that incident. This story really tells it well. Thanks Lorrie.

Pamela and Calla, thanks for the comments!! I love the Can-Do’s vs. Can’t Do-dooos! LOL

The analogy of the innocent victim present is brilliant.
