While I was having my 16th cup of coffee and reviewing paperwork on recent trademark files, it occurred to me that several years ago, I wouldn’t have thought about trademarking anything (because I didn’t know any better) and more importantly, I wouldn’t have known where to go to get help! Coffee cup 17 got me inspired to blog my a-ha for the day to help you be better marketers:
Without the power of networking, I would have never THOUGHT about trademarking and would have NEVER found the best guy for the job. If we open our ears and eyes to being educated and ask for help, we will be better at our jobs. And to be better at our jobs, all we have to remember is this free web marketing therapy advice:
It is ALL ABOUT RELATIONSHIPS and we are nothing without each other !!
Marketing is all about making and maximizing relationships - let’s not forget the power of also TAPPING OUR RELATIONSHIPS! The people we know, like and trust are the ones that can give us great advice, make good referrals and save a lot of mistake-making. Why go it alone when there are tons of people out there you can tap for advice, experience, education and contacts?
The three most dangerous words are “I” “know” “that“
We don’t know everything (ok, we did when we were 18, but that’s over now) Today, we have to get over ourselves and admit that we need help,advice and we reallyreally need each other.
When you ask for help or advice, it helps you make more educated choices. And when you are willing to LISTEN and LEARN and RECEIVE advice, then you will self-improve and grow. If it wasn’t for Meredith Reeback at HomeGrown Graphics who heard me talk about all my crazy workshop ideas and me I “better trademark those names” I wouldn’t have secured my ideas. If it wasn’t for me asking, “Ok, well who do you recommend I talk to?” I never would have found the best guy to work with, Haig Fischer of Trademarks, Etc. (read his story, it’s fascinating!)
So open your mind and ask for help, no networking, no nada. Tap your linkedin.com and facebook networks, your personal Rolodex, the people you admire and use the power of networking to make the most marketing impact.
