Brilliant Blogging Analogy

I am teaching a web marketing course (all online!) through Santa Barbara City College and one of my students, Starr Edwards, made a brilliant class comment about blogging that I wanted to share to inspire us to embrace our inner blog babe to brand, build and boost business:

Starr says: Blogging “is like telling a secret to the town gossip… it’s the only way to ensure that most everyone is privileged to your information.”

There is SO MUCH BRILLIANT CONTENT in our professional minds, but if we do not publish it, then it cannot be working for us.

Make the web work for your organization…the web is the new town gossip, only you get to start the rumor on your terms and have it read the way you want!

Starr, thanks for letting me post your post!  :-)

    Lorrie:

Starr is right on…and so are you for sharing this with the rest of us. As I relate this back to your Friday (10/9) Friday Web Marketing Funny post, again the power of communication surfaces.

In Dale Carnegie’s book, The Leader In You, he writes an entire chapter on communication and says, “The ability to communicate is what lights fire in people. It’s what turns great ideas into action. It’s what makes all achievement possible…All the brilliant ideas in the world are worthless if you don’t share them.”

Here’s to an increase in positive gossip! :)

Thanks for the post and the great Dale Carnegie post Coach Johnson! When Starr posted her comment in our online classroom, I asked if I could blog it because it was such a great analogy to drive home the power of all this web marketing work.

The quote you shared below (thank you!) will likely appear as a separate WMT post soon!

“The ability to communicate is what lights fire in people. It’s what turns great ideas into action. It’s what makes all achievement possible…All the brilliant ideas in the world are worthless if you don’t share them.”

Here is to an increase in positive gossip indeed! :-)
