So I am finally making my debut on this amazing blog! As I said the other day at lunch, to my wonderful Web Marketing Therapy women, I wish my thoughts could just blog themselves. Wouldn’t that be incredible?
Yes, you say! As did I, at first. But on second thought … after the topic I am about to cover, maybe blogging your thoughts straight from your head to the computer isn’t such a great thing after all.
I recently came across an article about the lamest blogs out there! Pay attention! If you are trying to attract some sort of audience, this is NOT what you want to do when blogging:
- Have a lame topic: such as ‘bad hair day’
- Have a lame use of grammar: all choppy and hard to read
- Having a poser blog: making it look like it’s a homegrown, feel-good blog, but really it’s just a corporation running it to get you to buy whatever they are promoting
- Having a ‘fictional’ historical blog: really, what is the point?
- Having a blog full of exclamation, punctuation, and little substance: !!!! really!!!! cool!!!!!! No, not cool at all
So when a thought pops into your head and you go to blog it, finesse it a little. Make it pretty, just like you do with yourself in the morning, knowing that it’s going to face the world. Happy blogging!
