I get asked all the time to share secrets to online marketing success. The big secret is that it is not the tools, but how and WHY we use the tools (websites, blogs, Facebook, YouTube, ads, etc.) that makes marketing matter.
I left a meeting today and referenced a great TED talk by Simon Sinek about “Nailing your WHY” that addresses the heart of marketing so brilliantly. I just looked it up on my blog to send the link and realized I blogged about this almost a year ago! Time flies!

Marketing success is a mix of science (tools, technologies, geeky best practices) and the art (the heart of why an organization does what it does) that is bridged with strategy.
It is pretty amazing that almost a year has gone by since I wrote the Marketing Therapy – Nail your WHY post. What I LOVE (see my heart oozing, can ya feel it, uh huh, oh yeah!) about classic advice is that it lasts a lifetime.
Web marketing tools and trends are constantly changing…organizations who manage their marketing from the inside out are the ones who weather the changes and seamlessly succeed.
